2013 OFFICIAL CTA RULES AND ENTRY LINK
THE FOLLOWING IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY. ALL RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. PLEASE CHECK BACK IN THE FALL FOR UPDATED INFORMATION.

It is your responsibility to follow all rules and to provide all required elements.
Please update us if your personal information changes during the competition or judging period. We are not responsible for misdirected, misspelled or missing information.

Only the Producer of record may enter and must be credited as such in the credits.

Applicants must have been enrolled in an accredited college within the United States at the time of production and completion of his/her piece. The piece must have been produced between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.

Producers may enter only one piece per category. You may not enter the same piece in more than one category. Exception: You may enter any single piece in one or both of the music categories if applicable. Entry fees will apply.

Professionals may not have functioned in the following positions: Producer, Director or Writer. These positions must have been held by students. This will be verified. In the music composition category, the composer must have been a student.

All pieces submitted must have been produced for school-related classes, groups, or projects and must be verified by a Faculty Advisor. As a part of the online application, a Faculty Advisor Verification Form which certifies that the producer, director and writer (and in some cases composer) were students at the time of production will be emailed to your Faculty Advisor for completion. The applicant will receive a copy of the email sent to the Faculty Advisor. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the document is signed and returned by their Faculty Advisor as directed.

The first entry is free. Each subsequent entry is $25.00 (you will be invoiced). If you don't receive an invoice for extra entries promptly, please let us know by emailing: ctasupport@emmys.org. Credit card payment is recommended. If we don't receive your payment by the submission deadline, only the first entry received, assuming it is complete and verified, will be judged.

Rules for naming your piece:

The name of each piece must be listed uniformly throughout the entire submission process.
- Example: This is My Entry must always be written as This is My Entry

Entry titles should not start with the word THE
- Example: The Newspaper must always be written as Newspaper, The

Do not use quotation marks.

All PSAs/commercials/advertisements must be deleted from submission materials.

We are using Vimeo as our video partner. You will need to provide a Vimeo URL for your video in your entry as directed in mtvU's entry website.

You must have a Vimeo account and upload your videos to VIMEO.COM in order to submit your College Television Awards entry. Failure to provide Vimeo link(s) to your video(s) within your entry form by the submission deadline will result in disqualification. If you don't already have a Vimeo account, you will need to create one. Vimeo is free to use. If your video is larger than 500MB you may also consider signing up for a free month of Vimeo Plus, available to College Television Awards registrants who are new Vimeo users (link to the free month will be available after registration on the entry site). Otherwise, you may consider compressing your video to a smaller file size. Please review the Vimeo Help Center/FAQ and Compression Guidelines if you are having trouble uploading your videos.

By uploading your video to Vimeo, it will be live and viewable to the public on Vimeo.com. If you do not want the public to be able to view your video, you will need to password-protect the video (detailed instructions are available on Vimeo.com) and provide the password with the URL on your Entry Form. Neither the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation nor mtvU will share your password-protected videos with anyone other than contest admins and judges.

If your piece is selected for the final phase of judging (Blue Ribbon panel), you will be asked to submit two .mov copies on DVD of your piece(s) as well as a thirty-second promo representing the content of your submission. Do not send these elements unless they are requested.

If your entry is not in English, it must contain English subtitles. Failure to provide a piece with subtitles will result in disqualification.

Entries of poor sound and/or picture quality will be disqualified.

Incomplete entries will be disqualified. Entries with missing or wrong information will be disqualified.

All entries must include the end credits.
- Like the Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Program, the producer(s) of record is/are the ONLY winner(s) in each category unless stated otherwise. Only the student producer, executive producer, co-producer of record may make a submission. If your school does not allow students to make submissions, festival coordinators or other faculty serving in that role are permitted to submit on behalf of the students.

ENTRY CHECKLIST
__ Review the official rules (above).
__ Register on the College Television Awards mtvU entry site.
__ Upload your video to Vimeo. (If you do not have a Vimeo
account, create one.) Make note of the URL (and password, if
applicable).
__ Click the "Prepare" tab on the top menu bar of
the College Television Awards mtvU entry site and fill out your
faculty advisor form information.
__ Click the "My Entry" tab on the top menu bar of
the College Television Awards mtvU entry site and enter your
entry information (include your Vimeo upload URL (and
password, if applicable)qa
__ Follow up with your faculty advisor to ensure that the
Faculty Advisor Form has been completed and returned as
indicated
